Your moments are personal.
This Privacy Policy explains how Pixel Moments handles information when you use the app. Last updated: July 25, 2026.
Overview
Pixel Moments is designed as a local-first video journal. It does not require an account and does not include advertising, third-party analytics, or tracking technology. Your clips and journal data remain on your device unless you choose to use an optional feature that involves an Apple service, such as iCloud, Photos, Maps, notifications, or Speech.
Information you create
Depending on how you use the app, Pixel Moments may process videos, audio, titles, journal entries, moods, favorites, captions, recording dates, time-zone information, and optional locations. This information is used to provide the app’s journal, timeline, map, caption, backup, and film-creation features.
Device permissions
- Camera and microphone: used to record your daily video and its audio.
- Photos: used only when you select an existing video to fill an eligible missed day or save a finished film.
- Location: optional and used to attach a location to a moment and display it on your map.
- Speech recognition: optional and used to create captions. On-device recognition is used when supported.
- Notifications: optional and used for reminders and supported app status features.
You can review or revoke permissions at any time in the iOS or iPadOS Settings app. Some related features will be unavailable after permission is revoked.
Optional iCloud synchronization
iCloud sync is disabled by default. If you enable it, Pixel Moments stores clips and related metadata in your private CloudKit database so they can appear on devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Apple processes this data under its own terms and privacy policies. Turning sync off stops future synchronization but does not automatically remove existing local files or previously synchronized data.
Sharing and third parties
Pixel Moments does not operate a developer server for your journal, sell personal information, serve advertisements, or use analytics and tracking SDKs. Information is shared with Apple services only when necessary for a feature you choose to use. Content you export or share is handled by the destination and the choices you make in the system share sheet.
Retention and deletion
You can delete individual clips or erase all Pixel Moments data from Settings. When iCloud sync is enabled, deletions are also sent to your private CloudKit database. Backups, exported films, and copies you have shared remain wherever you saved or sent them and must be removed there separately. Exported Pixel Moments backup packages are not additionally encrypted by the app.
Children’s privacy
Pixel Moments is not designed to collect personal information from children and does not operate an account or advertising system. Parents and guardians should manage device permissions and any iCloud or sharing features used by children.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the app’s features or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
